Specialized individual counseling is provided for our clients with mental health issues. The majority of clients entering treatment are affected by mental health issues. Mental illness may be situational and related to ongoing drug use, or it may have been present prior to the initiation of drug use and contributed throughout habitual use, physical dependence, and the ensuing chemical dependency (addiction). At Valhalla Place we have experienced mental health professionals specially trained in helping patients understand their illness, the role it plays in active addiction, and prepares them to deal effectively with these issues in recovery.Group
Specialized group counseling is provided for our clients with mental health issues. The majority of clients entering treatment are affected by mental health issues. Group counseling is a very effective method to help clients with mental health issues learn skills for coping with their illness and reduces the stigma and shame often experienced by those affected. At Valhalla Place we have experienced mental health professionals specially trained in conducting groups designed to teach clients the skills to manage both their chemical dependency and their mental health issues. The goal of group therapy is to enhance the recovery process, sustain a stable lifestyle, and facilitating the highest quality of life possible.Family
Research studies conducted over the last two decades have consistently shown that the greatest predictor of successful treatment outcomes is the involvement of the client’s family (or another personal support system) during the treatment process. When a client faces multiple challenges, such as mental health illness and chemical dependency, family support becomes even more important. At Valhalla Place our specially trained mental health professionals provide a variety of opportunities to involve the patient’s family in the treatment process. Medications designed to treat mental health issues are an important tool in the stabilization and recovery process. All patients al Valhalla Place have access to a psychiatrist accredited by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and who works closely with our medical and counseling staff to assure coordinated and comprehensive care.
